Anita Williams is a contemporary artist originally from southern New Jersey.  She moved  to York County, Pennsylvania in 1984. Anita received her B.S. in Art Education from Millersville University.  She completed her M.S. in Education from Wilkes University.  Most recently she earned her MFA in Visual Art from Wilson College’s unique new MFA program combining Visual Arts and Choreography.   She is a currently employed as an Art Teacher at the Spring Grove Area School District.

Prior to Anita’s MFA experience, most of her paintings were inspired by nature.  At Wilson College, Anita was introduced to movement as an art form.  Artists and Choreographers attended classes together and all students participated in both disciplines. This transformative experience changed Anita’s approach to painting from one of observation to abstraction and non-objective works inspired by intuition, movement and music.

Anita has participated in many exhibitions and juried shows in the York and Lancaster area as well as the New Jersey shore.  Recent exhibitions include a solo exhibition at the Handsome Cab Gallery in York and the regional juried exhibition at Penn College in Williamsport.
